Who can benefit from low-vision rehabilitation?
Anyone who is having difficulties with their daily activities due to low vision or vision loss. Low-vision therapy can help to address the psychological impact of vision loss and foster a sense of empowerment and hope.
What happens during an appointment?
We will establish goals together and review your medical report if you have questions. We will then determine how we can address the challenges you’re facing. Finally, you will receive skills training and instruction on using assistive devices, environmental modifications, and compensatory strategies.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Yes, and your most recent eye doctor reports are required for us to work together.
Is low-vision occupational therapy covered by insurance?
Yes, low-vision occupational therapy is often covered by insurance, but you will need to verify with your specific insurance provider.
Will I need to buy special equipment?
It is a possibility, but this cannot be determined until we meet. Please do not buy any special equipment (unless recommended by your physician) until after our appointment.
Do you offer home visits?
Yes, I do home visits in the Western North Carolina area.
